Microsoft's opening of its first global datacenter region in Qatar.

With the launch of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, the new cloud datacenter region offers businesses access to hundreds of scalable, highly available, and robust cloud services.

Microsoft today announced the opening of a new datacenter region in Qatar as the first hyperscale cloud provider to offer enterprise-grade services in the nation. This announcement represents a significant milestone for Microsoft. The brand-new, top-notch datacenters are already operational and ready for use, with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 readily available.

Qatar's increasing demand for high-speed computing and quick, dependable access to Microsoft services is the reason for the ongoing investment. To enhance the intelligent cloud adoption of enterprises, clients, and partners across Qatar, the new data center region will play a crucial role in offering access to scalable, highly available, and robust cloud services.

H.E. gave a speech during the opening ceremony. The opening of the Data Center today is regarded as a significant step in making the State of Qatar a cutting-edge and innovative digital hub in the Middle East and the rest of the world, according to Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology. This journey was inspired by the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to establish a diversified and competitive national economy.”

His Excellency continued, "Without the ambitions of the country's wise leadership and its vision to this crucial sector, believing in its crucial role in the development of other economic sectors, these pioneering projects in the field of digital transformation, communications, and information technology would not have been achieved. Legislative and regulatory regulation of the industry would increase its allure.

The first hyper-scale cloud data center region for Qatar has been delivered by Microsoft, which has more data center regions than any other cloud provider. This new initiative will expand the possibilities for businesses of all shapes and sizes to use our dependable cloud to innovate, better serve their clients, and accomplish their business objectives, ultimately promoting sustained economic growth that benefits all locals, according to Ralph.

Providing new opportunities for customers and partners

The Qatar cloud data center region will drive growth and scale for Microsoft customers and partners in the country. Microsoft customers across multiple industries, including the Ministry of Communication and Information technologyTASMU PLATFORM, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and many others, have already embraced the Microsoft Cloud to develop digital capabilities and innovate in their industries. Microsoft partners such as OoredooVodafoneEYQDSPWCICT,  MalomatiaIntelMannaiMeezaKPMG,  Starlink,  Paloalto Networks, Veeam, and Veritas are delivering transformative solutions across the Microsoft Cloud to drive customer success.

Developing future-proof skills to increase employability

The National Skilling Program was introduced earlier this year by Microsoft in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), to upskill over 50,000 workers in Qatar over the following four years. Over 14,000 people have benefited from the initiative thus far.

In conjunction with top universities including MIT xPro, the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD), and HEC Paris, Microsoft has also built a first-of-its-kind Digital Center of Excellence to assist close the skills gap within the IT community and speed up digital transformation.
